Pip Jamieson

Co-founder, The Loop

From economist to media player to entrepreneur, Pip Jamieson’s career has never been dull. After graduating from Edinburgh University in 2002 with a first class masters degree in Economics, Pip was recruited as a fast stream civil servant for the British government. Disillusioned with politics, she pursued her dream of working in the media industry, first working on the 2004 BRIT Awards (the UK equivalent of the ARIA Awards), and as strategy and Development Manager for MTV Networks Australia. At MTV she planned and spearheaded the team that launched two new local channels in New Zealand: MTV and Nickelodeon. In 2006, Pip took the reins as Head of Marketing for MTV Networks New Zealand during which time she won a silver ANZ PROMAX for Best Innovative Idea for the MTV Mile High Gig. In 2008, she co-founded creative industry networking site The Loop (www.theloop.com.au), with her friend and colleague Matt Fayle. Today, brands including Google, ABC, Pacific Magazines, Discovery Networks, Frost* and SBS have joined the network to headhunt talent. Picking up ‘Best Enterprise’ at this year’s AIMIA Awards, and attracting 120,000 unique visitors a month the site is now Australia’s largest community of creative practitioners and companies who use the network to promote themselves, collaborate, network and hire.
