Kevin Finn is an internationally respected designer based in Brisbane, Australia. Having begun his career in Dublin with the studio that produces all the design material for Irish rock legends U2, Finn left Ireland to explore the world. This led him to saatchi Design, Sydney, part of the saatchi & saatchi global network, where he held the position of Joint Creative Director for seven years, winning numerous national and international awards. In 2007, Finn took a unique and radical decision by establishing his independent design studio Finn Creative (now called ThesumOf) in the remote town of kununurra, Western Australia, where he worked with a variety of Indigenous Aboriginal organisations developing cross-cultural branding and communications material, designed a set of stamps for An Post (the Irish National Postal service) and rebranded sBs, the most multi-cultural broadcaster in the world, among other projects. His belief in advocacy for design rather than the designers and his interest in building a responsible design community are reflected in his work, which examines the broader topics of social, cultural, economic and political issues. His independent publication Open Manifesto promotes deeper discussion about design culture, while his DEsIGNerd initiative celebrates the design enthusiast through his DESIGNerd 100+ project, the world’s first graphic design trivia game series.
