David Briskin

Previous CEO of sass and bide and Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival Director

David Briskin was Chief Executive Officer of sass & bide from 2008, when he acquired a stake in the business, to March 2014. Briskin has led the international growth and restructure of sass & bide, and under his leadership, increased its retail presence to over forty boutiques and concession stores.

His strategic vision and legal expertise were instrumental in securing a significant investment in 2011, where the largest Australian department store Myer acquired a 65 percent stake in the business. This enabled sass & bide to accelerate growth internationally and expand its portfolio of products including accoutrement, swim and under license, eyewear and lingerie. In November 2013, sass & bide opened its first international flagship in New York

Before joining sass & bide, Briskin was a shareholder and Managing Director of Mimco, a leading Australian accessories brand. Responsible for establishing its extensive retail footprint, Briskin quickly helped Mimco become one of Australia’s greatest retail success stories. His strategic vision saw the company secure an exclusive partnership with luxury retailer David Jones, before selling the company to Gresham Private Equity in September 2007.
